About KACS
School History
School opened in 2007 for grades K-4. A grade level was added each subsequent year until the enrollment included a diverse student population that spanned K-8. In 2017, Keystone Academy moved to its current location-the renovated historic Mary Disston School joined to a newly constructed building.
In early 2024, the school completed a 10,000 sq foot addition. This addition includes 8 classrooms, art studio, outdoor instructional space, staff lounge, custodial office, student rest room and staff rest room.
The school, which continues to serve a diverse student population from both in and around the Philadelphia region, provides students with a rigorous academic program, opportunities for social and emotional growth, appreciation for the arts, and opportunities to help our community through charitable works and service-learning projects.
What is a Charter School?
Charter schools are tuition-free public schools that unique learning environments such as curriculum, teaching style, flexibility, or a mission that differs from other schools. Parents have the option to choose an education that fits the needs of their family and child. Given the variety of school options, from which students may choose, charter schools are able to offer instructional, social and extracurricular experiences that neighborhood schools may not. For instance, charter schools can offer a more challenging curriculum or a better support system. Charter schools help students excel, flourish, meet their academic goals, and prepare them for college and other future endeavors, while still meeting state regulations and academic expectations.

The mission of Keystone Academy is to provide students with a rigorous academic program using a concentrated science and mathematics curriculum that employs the use of integrated technology.

KACS Faculty Vision
The faculty of Keystone Academy Charter School will prepare students for the future with a focus on science and mathematics and integrating strong academics in cross-curricular activities. We will motivate students to recognize the purpose of learning and to develop a life-time love of learning. We will provide a safe and nurturing environment and strive to ensure personal success in each student through social and emotional development, leadership, higher order thinking, and problem solving skills. We are dedicated to molding productive 21st century members of society who are independent, tolerant, responsible citizens who are accountable for their actions and able to make a difference in our world.

Keystone Academy Charter School is a public school operating under a charter granted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Admission to the school is open to all eligible students who reside within the limits of the state of Pennsylvania in grades K through 8.
